Time passes but Heaven is Forever

My husband and his momMy son-in-law’s grandpa is dying. He is ready to stay in heaven, his home. He is ready to leave his broken body and enjoy the fellowship and love in the hereafter. I have heard stories of visions, pointing, and seeing people already gone. The family mourns his passing but his grandsons are sure where he will be soon.

Heaven awaits us who believe

My Facebook memories this week reminded me it has been two years since my father-in-law passed to heaven. I wonder if he will stop by to welcome this new soul. I think they met once eight years ago. It is fun to think it will happen.

While this year has been a busy one, I like to stop and think occasionally of the ones in heaven watching us here on earth. My grandparents and my father-in-law are there and many more generations. The children we have lost, my brother, and my nephew. It is true as I get older how more of the ones I love are there in heaven. I think how some are laughing and some are shaking their heads. Mostly I think of them cheering us on, “You’re almost there, keep going!

Watching and waiting in heaven

Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever.

And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls! Hebrews 12:1-3
